DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation

This training is intended for personnel who load, unload, and/or transport hazardous materials.

This 8-hour, awareness-level, instructor-led training course provides employers and employees of small or mid-sized companies or agencies with critical hazardous materials (HazMat) training information on loading, unloading, or preparing HazMat for transportation. Specifically, this course focuses on the unique transportation requirements for carriage by highway and rail. Topics covered include:

• DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) (49 CFR
Subchapter C)
• Hazardous material recognition and identification
• Basic emergency response procedures regarding HazMat
• Determining quantities and appropriate markings, labeling and packaging for HazMat
• Preparing shipping papers for transporting HazMat
• Safe and secure handling, packaging, labeling and transportation practices for HazMat
