The EMA Communications Unit consists of dedicated volunteers who provide communications capabilities, support, & coordination to EMA, public safety & other organizations. These volunteers work under the direct authority of EMA.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program helps to train people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities. When emergencies occur, CERT members can give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site. CERT members can also help with non-emergency projects that help improve the safety of the community.
C.A.R.E. was founded by members from the Animal Disaster Team that continue to provide animal rescue and handling during local disasters and emergencies. All members are trained to FEMA and Red Cross guidelines. The team is always looking for more dedicated responders.
