Full Scale Response Exercise

On June 24th, 2017 response agencies from Medina, Cuyahoga, and Lorain County participated in a full-scale emergency response exercise at the Liverpool Waste Water Treatment Plant. The scenario involved a chlorine leak along with a mass casualty incident. Area fire departments decontaminated 14 patients that were then transported by ambulance to Cleveland Clinic Brunswick ED and Southwest Brunswick ER. The Medina County hazmat team worked with the waste water treatment plant staff to stop the leak. Medina County Emergency Management Agency provided support to the response by opening an Emergency Operations Center. The All-Hazards Rope Rescue Team preformed a confined space rescue from a pit. The Medina County Sheriff’s Office and State Highway Patrol assisted with traffic & access control. Thank you to all players, victims, controllers, evaluators, & support personnel for participating in this year’s exercise.
